West Orange Homes for Sale- 07052


West Orange is found 18 miles west of New York City, located in the center of suburban Essex County, New Jersey. It is 12.15 square miles spread over two ridges and two valleys known as the Watchung Mountains; the rolling terrain gives variety to the township and is responsible for its division into eight neighborhoods which have obtained their names from the various elementary schools available in West Orange. Although the town does not have a midtown direct train station , it does offer a shuttle service to the South Orange Train Station from both the Gregory and Saint Clouds section of town. There are also various bus routes into Manhattan offered by Decamp Bus Lines and NJ Transit. The commute to Manhattan is around 50 Minutes travelling time.

Neighborhoods-

Gregory Section – Located on the southern side of West Orange this quant neighborhood consists of charming Tudors, Colonials and Victorians customarily built in the late 1800’s and early 1900s. The lots are larger than those found in surrounding Essex Towns and the landscapes are mature and picturesque. There is a West Orange Shuttle which offers a quick commute into the Mountain and South Orange train Station where midtown direct train connects you with Manhattan. The entire commute is about 45 minutes door to door depending on your Manhattan location. . Homes in the Gregory section can range from 3 bedroom Colonials to charming Tudors, or large Victorians, prices range from $300,000-550,000.

Hazel - The Hazel section is located slightly southeast of the Gregory section and consists of homes similar in style to the Gregory section but slightly smaller and much more affordable. The Homes range from 3-4 bedroom and are priced from $200,000-350,000. Some streets within this section can also access the West Orange Shuttle Bus.

Mount Pleasant - Mount Pleasant Neighborhood is located toward the northwest corner of town. Mount Pleasant is a newer section of town by West Orange standards. The area consists of Ranches, small Splits, Bi-level and Cape Cods, mostly built during the 1950’s-1960's. Prices in this neighborhood range from $250,000-450,000.

Pleasantdale - Travelling just west of Pleasant Valley Way in West Orange will lead you up some mountainous terrain, if picking the right home one can have views of the Manhattan skyline from this section. Homes consist of Cape Cods, Colonials and Split levels built after the war. As you move north in West Orange the Splits and Colonials become larger and so do the lot sizes. Close access to Verona Park and a great Pleasantdale School System, creates high demand for this neighborhood. Pleasant dale also offers many houses of worship, where residents can walk to their place of worship. Home prices typically range in the $300,000- 700,000 range.

Redwood - The Redwood section is home to a few sought after Townhome Communities, Like Chrystal Woods, Eagle Ridge and The Pointe. These communities offer various amenities like, 24 hour security, indoor pools, and outdoor pools, on site gyms, tennis and a quick Manhattan commute.  The Redwood section is diverse, it has a fabulous school system, and the real estate offers a wide variety of homes. Ranging from Cape Cods, Brick Ranches, to Luxury Homes, BRAND NEW with approximately 4000-5000 square feet of living space, set on ½ to 1 area of land. These huge options, so close to New York City makes West Orange a town worth investigating. Price range for townhomes range from $300,000-500,000, houses can run from $300,000-1,000,000 approximately.

Washington - Better known as the West Orange Valley Section, borders Montclair and Glen Ridge. It is located close to Main Street a small but efficient downtown area with local stores like CVS and a few well known restaurants. This main street area has been approved for a major revitalization consisting of a large condo complex which has been approved by the town, along with a revitalization of historic Main Street. The Valley consists of small colonials of which many are multifamily dwellings. This area is priced very affordable from the $200,000-350,000 range.

Saint Cloud - Travelling east of Pleasant Valley Way runs you right into West Orange High School and the Saint Cloud section of town. Saint Cloud offers a mix of architecture with Colonials and Tudors from the late 1800’s to more modern ranches, cape cods and split levels. Housing ranges from $250,000-650,000.

Llewellyn Park - Llewellyn Park was one of the first private residential communities ever built in America. The Park is famous for The Glenmont Estate of Thomas Edison. Here is where Mr. Edison developed over 500 patents, the movie industry and gas lights which still light Llewellyn Park to this day. It is named after its developer Llewellyn Haskell who built the park in 1850 for the Manhattan elite. The Park has 24 hour gated security, it is full of palatial estates ranging from 4000-15,000 sf and most have well over 2 acres of land. The small windy roads and beautiful mature landscape makes one feel they are a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of modern day life. Deer, wildlife, and turkeys run free within the park, which has a full staff of residential keepers. Homes in Llewellyn Park range from $1,000,000-4,000,000 on average.
